Applying to UK universities has never been easier

Undergraduate students applying to UK can fill the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) form online. Applying to UK universities and colleges at the undergraduate level is extremely easy and all you need to do is fill one form, which is sent to six universities.

You do not have to send your official transcripts, essays, or letters of recommendation to each university that you apply to. Instead you fill in the UCAS form, type in your marks and paste your letter of recommendation, all on the same form. This form is then sent to six universities of your choice. The cost for this process is 15 pounds, which is way less than application fees of other countries.

Students studying as undergraduates in UK usually have the option to choose from a three year or four year curriculum. The only disadvantage of studying in UK is the rigidity of the academic curriculum as compared to the US. Once you have decided on a particular major or course, you have to stick to it and most of the time you cannot change your decision.

If you decide to study a three-year curriculum, your education expenses may be lower than the US, as US undergraduate degree is four years as compared to the British undergraduate degree, which is three years. An average cost of tuition in UK universities is around 7000 pounds. This figure would vary depending on the university you choose.

You do not need to take the SAT I for admissions but may need to take the IELTS or TOEFL. Both these exams check more for your English proficiency.

Most British universities will accept applications as late as June for the September term. Of course, it’s in your best interest to apply early. Keep in mind that most universities will give you a conditional offer of admission– the condition being that you successfully complete the 12th grade and get the percentage that the university sets for you.

Once you get your admission and your 12th grade results, obtaining the UK visa is relatively easier than other countries. Sometimes, you may not even need an interview!
